Writers' workshop for 3rd & 4th Graders!

The GCCA Education Committee has two free writing workshops starting soon. One workshop is taking place at Global Leadership Academy-SouthWest (GLA-SW), and is open only to GLA-SW students in the school's own after-school program. It is being promoted within the school. The other workshop, titled WRITING MOVES ME, is being held at the Lucien Blackwell Branch of the Free Library at 52nd and Sansom Streets. It's open to 3RD AND 4TH GRADERS. It's FIVE SESSIONS long and will meet on consecutive Mondays starting October 16. The dates are October 16, 23, 30, November 6, and 13. It runs from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. The workshop was created by Thembi Palmer, a children's book author and storyteller. It's movement-themed and will creatively lead students through actions and activities to help them become more skilled WRITERS. The experience will be interactive, fun, and productive. Sign-up is at the Children's Reference Desk (2nd Floor) of the Lucien Blackwell Branch of the Free Library, 125 South 52nd St. The workshop can accommodate a maximum of 15 participants, so it's best to sign up early to reserve a space.
