See the AARC (African American Resource Center) January 2021 Calendar for additional events: https://aarc.upenn.edu/events
Every January, the University of Pennsylvania and surrounding communities come together to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The commemoration includes a Day of Service to be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 and continues with programming and events through Friday, February 5, 2021.
One such event is the Penn Reads Literacy Project! This project aims to provide books to local day care centers and preschools by curating a physical collection where students may see themselves represented in anti-bias, beautifully written and illustrated stories. This year’s “wishlist” of children’s books has been established on Bookshop.org where a portion of all purchases financially support local, independent bookstores. You are encouraged to share the attached flyer or this link. Registration is not needed for the book donation but the link to the eventbrite will provide more information. Make your purchases now. Delivery needed before January 25, 2021! *Use this “Ship to” address when making your purchase: Penn Reads Literacy Project 250 N. Highland Avenue, B Lansdowne, PA 19050 In addition, Penn Reads Literacy Project will be hosting a live event for the public: “Penn Reads-Dr. Ebony Elizabeth Thomas on Diversity in Children's Literature” Click to find out more and register to join the discussion on Monday, January 18, 2021 @ 12-1 pm. See the AARC (African American Resource Center) January 2021 Calendar for additional events: https://aarc.upenn.edu/events On behalf of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Symposium Executive Planning Committee, thank you for your support and we hope you can attend the VIRTUAL event on January 18!
