Hakim's Bookstore PA Historical Marker Dedication Saturday, September 23, 2023, 11 AM

September 23, 11 AM will be the dedication of the Pennsylvania Historical Marker for Hakim’s Bookstore (210 South 52nd Street).

We look forward to the celebration and hope you will join West Philadelphia neighbors as the University City Historical Society honors the incredible legacy of Dawud Hakim with his daughters, friends, and those who have benefited from his labors.

Join us at the oldest surviving Black-owned bookstore on the east coast and a cultural institution in Philadelphia and beyond to meet neighbors and celebrate Hakim’s storied history!
